Zalewo is a small town located in the immediate neighbourhood of Lake Ewingi. Its major attraction is the connection with Lake Jeziorak and then with Ostróda-Elblag Canal through canoe and sail canal. In Zalewo commune, within unprotected part of the Ilawskie Lakeland Landscape Park there's the valley of what used to be Lake Trupen. Trees which grow here include: oak, lime and beech. Around the area there's a footpath. Historic buildings St John Apostle and Evangelist Church in Zalewo, constructed in 1320 – 1351. Other interesting places in and around Zalewo are: Gothic tower from the 14th and 15th century with a small museum in it, church and Jewish cemetery in Sienkiewicza Street, primary school building, the remains of town wall, Pozorty Palace (1925), Badki Palace (19th century) Gublawki Palace (early 20th century), baroque church in Jaskowo, churches in Boreczno and Dobrzyki (14th century). |
